Määritelmä Mitattu lämpötila Maan ilmakehän eri korkeuksissa. Lämpötilaan vaikuttavat monet tekijät kuten auringonsäteilyn määrä, ilmankosteus ja korkeus Maan pinnasta.

Määritelmä (en) A measure of temperature at different levels of the Earth's atmosphere. It is governed by many factors, including incoming solar radiation, humidity and altitude.

Selite Termi ilman lämpötila tarkoittaa tietyssä ilmakehän pisteessä mitattua lämpötilaa. Maan ilmakehän lämpötila vaihtelee paljon ilmakehän eri korkeuksissa. Kylmimmät lämpötilat ovat mesopaussissa, noin 85-100 kilometrin korkeudessa. Lämpimimmät lämpötilat puolestaan löytyvät mesosfäärin yläpuolisesta kerroksesta termosfääristä, jossa sijaitsevalle Van Allenin säteilyvyöhykkeelle tulee voimakasta ionisoivaa säteilyä.

Selite (en) In the Earth's atmosphere, temperature varies greatly at different heights relative to the Earth's The coldest temperatures lie near the mesopause, an area approximately 85 km to 100 km above the surface. In contrast, some of the warmest temperatures can be found in the thermosphere, which receives strong ionizing radiation at the level of the Van Allen radiation belt. Temperature varies as one moves vertically upwards from the Earth's Surface. Term air temperature refers to temperature occuring at certain point in the atmosphere.
