Määritelmä (en)
architectural wooden structures characterized by trusses composed of a horizontal tie beam that connects the rafters, stabilized through struts and collar beams; considered a predecessor structural system to Gothic roof structures
Selite (en)
Romanesque roof types are early roofing systems that preceded Gothic roof structures in church construction. Each truss consists of a horizontal tie beam that connects and stabilizes the rafters, preventing the walls from spreading under the weight of the roof. Struts and collar beams are employed in each truss to provide additional structural integrity. In Finland, these roof types were typically less steep than later Gothic roofs. The trusses, connected through wind braces, rest on wall plates that are not integrated into the church walls. Wooden flat board ceilings were attached to the tie beams to separate the church hall from the attic.
